Hear British soprano Charlotte Jane Kennedy, winner of Sinfonia Smith Square’s renowned competition, the Peter Hulsen Orchestral Song Award, live in concert.

The Peter Hulsen Orchestral Song Award is a biennial competition for ambitious early-career singers based in London. This year, ten singers performed before an esteemed panel of judges, including soprano Sophie Bevan MBE, bass-baritone Neal Davies, and Simon Over, Founder Director of Sinfonia Smith Square.

Charlotte Jane Kennedy, a current student at the Royal College of Music International Opera School, is taught by the esteemed vocal coach Janis Kelly. Charlotte is the ninth winner of the award and has already established a presence on national and international opera stages, performing at Garsington Opera and the Da Ponte Opera Festival in Italy.

She is joined by second-prize winner Miranda Kettlewell in concert.

The competition offers young singers the opportunity to perform with an orchestra, often acting as a springboard to highly successful careers. Former winners, including Lotte Betts-Dean, Soraya Mafi, Božidar Smiljanić, and Gavan Ring, have gone on to perform title roles with leading opera companies including English National Opera, Bavarian State Opera, and the Royal Opera House.
