Biography
I am a British violist. I began studying the viola at the age of six with the Guernsey Music Service, before winning a scholarship to study at Wells Cathedral School under the tutelage of Matthew Souter and Roger Chase. In 2022, I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, London, where I had been studying with Paul Silverthorne. After a brief stint in Italy, I returned to the UK and completed my master’s studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Sarah-Jane Bradley. In 2026, I was a fellow of the OAcademy Orchestral Institute, working with Milan Milisavljevic.
I am a committed orchestral musician and am looking forward to joining Sinfonia Smith Square for their 2026/27 season. I was recently offered a position with the Plovdiv State Opera Orchestra in Bulgaria, although I decided not to pursue this, and I have been invited to undertake work with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra. I have been a regular member of orchestras such as the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, and have been principal viola of the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra. I have played alongside orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House (as a mentee), and English National Ballet Sinfonia.
As a chamber musician, I am a member of Avaia string quartet. Our performance of Beethoven’s ‘Harp’ quartet was highly commended in the St James Chamber Prize 2026 and we were subsequently invited to participate in the Zeist Music Days masterclasses. I am also a member of The Lyra Trio, a flute, harp, and viola trio, and I often play with pianists Tiffany Qiu and Alex McChrystal. I have received coaching from artists such as the Endellion and Brodsky Quartets, Levon Chilingirian, Ursula Smith, and Gary Pomeroy. I have given solo recitals around the world, including Hawaii, Italy, Guernsey, and the UK, and have been featured on RAI Südtirol and NPR Hawaii. I have participated in masterclasses with esteemed musicians including Haruka Nagao, Tomasz Krejbich, Roger Benedict and Pauline Sachse, among others.
When not practising the viola, I can be found tending the garden or walking in the hills around my family’s home on the Isle of Skye.
