Anton Bruckner Choir and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment perform Bach’s all-embracing masterpiece.
Anton Bruckner Choir is especially noted for performances of the major choral works of J. S. Bach, performing the Christmas Oratorio in December 2007, followed by the Mass in B Minor, St. John Passion, St. Matthew Passion and Magnificat. In our 30th anniversary year we are delighted to be embarking on another Bach cycle with the Mass in B Minor and collaborating with the OAE for the first time.
Founded by Christopher Dawe in 1995, ABC is established as one of London’s leading chamber choirs. Repertoire includes some of the most challenging a cappella choral works of the twentieth century including Britten’s A Boy Was Born, Daniel-Lesur’s Le Cantique des Cantiques, Martin’s Mass for Double Choir and Poulenc’s Figure Humaine. Previous appearances at Smith Square Hall have featured Handel’s Messiah, Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610, Handel’s Dixit Dominus, Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C Minor, and Brahms’ German Requiem.
In October 2018 the choir undertook a Bach Pilgrimage with performances of the Motets at the Schlosskapelle in Köthen and the Thomaskirche in Leipzig. In October 2024 the choir toured the Galicia region in Spain, giving concerts in Lugo, Tui and Santiago, and singing at Pilgrim Mass in Santiago Cathedral.
