CGCO will be performing Britten’s lesser-known song cycle Our Hunting Fathers. The composition features intricate vocal harmonies and striking textures, creating a powerful emotional landscape. It serves as a commentary on the consequences of man’s actions in nature, highlighting themes of nostalgia, loss, and the evolving relationship between humans and the natural world.

In the second half of the concert, CGCO will present one of Mahler’s most famous symphonies, his Symphony No. 9. The symphony, structured in four movements, exhibits Mahler’s signature lush orchestration and emotional depth. This symphony is regarded as one of his most poignant works, capturing the essence of his artistic legacy.
