A mysterious commission led to Mozart's final masterwork, a magisterial Requiem finished after his death.
The Parliament Choir is an autonomous body in Parliament under the auspices of the Speaker in the House of Commons and Lord Speaker, and is open to all who work in Parliament. Founded in 2000 by Lord Filkin and Simon Over, it was created to offer those working in Palace of Westminster, the opportunity to sing together despite the demands of parliamentary life.
The Choir’s repertoire is ambitious and wide ranging spanning Opera Gala to major choral masterpieces such as the Dream of Gerontius and St Matthew Passion, singing in Latin, German and Czech and Russian. The Choir has premiered work composed for it by its Chorus Master and Compose-in-Residence Nicholas O’Neill.
The Choir is privileged to co-operate with exceptional guest soloists such as Sir Thomas Allen and the late Dame Felicity Lott and has joined forces with leading ensembles such as Coventry Cathedral Chorus and St Albans Bach Choir for larger-scale works.
