Sparkling melodies, dancing rhythms: Sinfonia Smith Square and students from Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School join forces for Mendelssohn’s ‘Italian’ symphony.

Mendelssohn was 21 when the stunning landscapes of the Italian countryside inspired his Fourth Symphony while on a ‘grand tour’ of Europe. He was also touched by the “supreme delight in life” that characterised the Italian locals, and in homage produced a symphony that so brilliantly encapsulates the Mediterranean sun and spirit.
