Sinfonia Smith Square performs with alumna Imogen Whitehead in this deeply atmospheric programme.

Sinfonia Smith Square are joined by Imogen Whitehead, principal trumpet of the Britten Sinfonia and a fast-rising soloist, in a brand new concerto for flugelhorn – the trumpet’s mellower cousin – by Gabriel Jackson, dedicated to jazz legend Roy Hargrove.

Conductor Charlotte Cordery was Critics’ Circle Conductor of the Year, 2025 and has recently worked with the LSO, Philharmonia, Opéra National de Lyon and Opera Holland Park. She directs the orchestra in a programme including Mendelssohn’s windswept and dramatic Scottish Symphony and the virtuosic orchestral showpiece Sound and Fury by Anna Clyne, described as a ‘composer of uncommon gifts and unusual methods’ by the New York Times.
