Sinfonia Smith Square Fellowship Orchestra performs Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht, inspired by a poem following a two lovers’ emotions through infidelity and forgiveness. Schoenberg’s sublime work is passionate and deeply moving; with rich Romantic melodies, it is what some consider the greatest sextet ever written.

Composed in 1849, Louise Farrenc’s Nonet in E flat is scored for a string and wind quintet together, full of rich textures and a prominence to the winds — it is an undeniable nod to Beethoven’s 1802 Septet in the same key.
