Biography

I was born in Osaka, Japan, and was first introduced to the violin at five, when my family moved to Perth, Australia. My parents wanted me to grow up in a more open and flexible environment, and I spent a lot of my time at the beach and outdoors. Although I come from a non-musical family, music was always valued as part of my education, and I started learning the violin through friends. The instrument opened many doors for me, and what was initially just one part of a very active childhood gradually became a very important part of my life. One of the reasons I came to love learning the violin was my mum deciding to learn the instrument from scratch and take part in my lessons alongside me! It is one of those memories I remember so vividly and will always hold close to my heart.

As I grew older, the opportunities that came through the violin gradually introduced me to new people, places and experiences. One of these was meeting my most recent teacher, Emily Sun, in Perth, when she was performing with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, where I was playing shortly after I graduated from the University of Western Australia. Having completed my Bachelor of Music under Semra Lee and Shaun Lee-Chen, this chance encounter and the inspiration I found in Emily’s playing played a big part in my decision to move to London and continue my studies at the Royal College of Music.

London has really expanded my world as a musician, giving me the freedom and accessibility to pursue and nurture the different aspects of violin playing that I love and have always wanted to explore. I have loved learning and performing on the Baroque violin and developing my interest in historical performance, as well as working with musicians I have long admired, including Ana Chumachenco and Frederik Øland (Danish String Quartet). Chamber music has become an even bigger part of my life through founding the Nasia Quartet, which has taken us across the UK and Europe, most recently as Emerging Artists at the 2026 Lake District Music Festival. My love for chamber orchestral playing has also led to performances with Britten Sinfonia and the London Mozart Players, while I have further developed my orchestral playing as concertmaster of the RCM Philharmonic Orchestra and Nova Philharmonia, and through performances with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. I am very grateful for the life I get to live as a musician, and excited for the experiences and opportunities still to come!
