Biography
In my secondary school years, a heavy academic workload interrupted my violin practice for several years. My interest in classical music remained alive, yet I had stepped away from active playing. Everything changed when I walked into a music shop by chance and heard Gil Shaham’s recording of Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No.1. The exquisite and powerful melody resonated deeply with me. I gradually realized that the unique charm of classical music can only be truly perceived with the accumulation of life experience and emotional growth. This crucial moment strengthened my determination to take music as my lifelong career.
At 18, I was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and completed my bachelor’s degree under the guidance of Associate Professor Geng Liu. To expand my artistic vision and acquire cross‑cultural musical insights, I pursued advanced studies overseas. I earned my Master’s degree at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Switzerland with renowned Italian violinist Massimo Quarta, and later completed my Artist Diploma at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, studying under Professor Nathaniel Vallois and Professor Jiafeng Chen.
I once served as tutti first violin of the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra and performed as an extra musician with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, accumulating rich orchestral performance experience. I also founded the LANO String Quartet in the UK. The quartet has staged performances at prestigious venues including Wigmore Hall and St James’s Piccadilly, and been invited to perform at the Elgar Festival, Southwell Festival, Leamington Music Festival, Winchcombe Music Festival, and the Malcolm Arnold Festival Centenary Concert.
In my spare time, cooking and tea‑tasting soothe my mind. I also love travelling to experience diverse local cultures and customs from around the world.
