Biography

Funny story —I actually wanted to play the flute first, but I was too small to reach the keys. So, naturally, I picked up the violin instead. My two older siblings were already violinists and ended up teaching me how to play “Twinkle Twinkle” (my very first song!) when I was five years old. What started as a second choice quickly became something I couldn’t imagine my life without.

I’ve always been a creative person! Both of my parents were singers in our church choir, so our house was often filled with a diverse selection of music ranging from gospel, to acoustic guitar. The edges of my school notebooks were often messed with little doodles and I kept my nose buried in books. Music, back then, was just another creative outlet for me to express myself.. However, everything really started to shift for me in middle school. My middle school instructor took me to my first music festival at 13 years old, and I remember being completely blown away. It wasn’t just the music but the sense of community, of belonging to something bigger than myself. That experience lit a fire in me. I became laser-focused on music, joined youth orchestras, worked my way up to concertmaster, and eventually got to perform as a soloist with the Piedmont Chamber Orchestra. That season of my life inspired me so much, I ended up graduating early to keep pursuing this path.

I went on to study at Belhaven University (achieving both my Bachelor’s and Artist Diploma in Music Performance) with Song Xie, where I grew not just as a musician, but as a person. It was there I really started to understand how my music and my faith are connected — how playing violin can be more than just performance. It can be a way to bring people together, to offer something meaningful, and to connect even for just a moment.

Now, I’m a full-time violinist with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, freelancing across the states, and soaking up every opportunity I can, including summer music festivals and fellowships that continue to inspire and challenge me. It’s wild to look back and see how far things have come, and honestly, I’m just excited to see where this journey goes next.

So many people have invested in me, believed in me, and made space for me to grow and because of that, I’m passionate about doing the same for others. Whether it’s through teaching, mentoring, or simply being present, I want to be someone who helps others feel seen and supported.

Outside of music, you can usually find me out on a run, sipping an oat-milk cappuccino while coffee shop hopping, or deep in conversation with friends, overanalysing our favourite TV shows. Life’s better with good people, great coffee, and a little laughter — and I try to carry that joy into everything I do.
