Biography
I grew up in a tiny town in Spain, and at the age of six, I decided I wanted to play the double bass as it looked big and cool. But the local music school didn’t offer it at that time, so I went with the violin instead. Looking back, it seems like it was meant to be!
Although no one else in my family is a musician, music has always been part of my family. My father still talks about the day, as a child, he stumbled upon Dvořák’s New World Symphony in the library, which made him fall in love with classical music.
After years of studying in Spain—and putting my parents through endless car journeys to rehearsals and lessons—I moved to London at 19 to study with Professor Krzysztof Smietana at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I traded Mediterranean sunshine for a city full of energy and opportunity. These years have shaped me profoundly, having tried many forms of music. Aside from violin solo repertoire, I really enjoy playing in orchestra and chamber ensembles. I find it quite unique and exciting, the idea of sharing and making music as a collective.
When I’m not playing or rehearsing, you’ll probably find me lost in a book at a good café, experimenting in the kitchen, or chasing sunshine for hiking or camping trips—though in the UK, that last one’s a game of chance. I also live with Mei, my young cat and daily source of mischief.
I’m really excited to be part of the Sinfonia Smith Square Fellowship, and I can’t wait to see where this musical adventure takes me next! I play a violin by Sam Brouwer and a bow by Luca Modaffari.
