Biography

My journey with the French horn began at a young age, inspired by my early lessons with Julian Baker. At the age of ten, I was awarded a scholarship to Chetham’s School of Music, where nearly a decade of immersion in orchestral, chamber, and solo playing laid the foundation for my musical path. During this time, I received invaluable guidance from Julian Plummer, whose mentorship shaped both my technical and artistic growth.

I went on to study at the Royal College of Music in London, supported by the Emma Rose Music Scholarship. My time there offered me the chance to perform in a wide range of settings, from chamber ensembles to major orchestras, and to learn from some of the leading figures in the horn world. Highlights include performing Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms under Sir Andrew Davis, Strauss’s Also Sprach Zarathustra with Vasily Petrenko, and Holst’s The Planets with Sakari Oramo at the BBC Proms. My playing has also taken me abroad, including a performance at Helsinki’s Musiikkitalo for the Helsinki Festival.

Alongside orchestral work, I have participated in masterclasses with Radek Baborak, Sarah Willis, Frøydis Ree Wekre, and Stephan Dohr, with whom I also had the privilege of performing. More recently, I have begun to establish myself as a professional player, including appearances with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Outside of music, I enjoy going to the gym, cooking, and spending time with my family, and I look forward to furthering my musical journey with Sinfonia Smith Square in the year ahead.
